I studied Biotechnology with a specialization in health sciences and completed my PhD in a clinical pathology lab at the University of Lleida, under the mentorship of Prof. Xavier Matias-Guiu and Prof. Rosa Maria Marti. I pursued postdoctoral training in 3D and spatial biology across King’s College London, Barts Cancer Institute, and the Institute of Cancer Research with Prof. Victoria Sanz-Moreno.
The mAIques Lab was established through my academic appointment under the mentorship of Prof. Claude Chelala and Prof. Carol Dezateux, as part of the Barts Precision Medicine Programme, within the Barts Life Sciences ecosystem, and generously supported by Barts Charity.
Our team bridges experimental pathology and computational analysis to understand ECM-driven transformation and immune dynamics in early-stage cancer. We aim to translate deep spatial phenotyping into actionable clinical insights for stratification and early detection.
Our lab has participated in key initiatives such as the OPTIMA Consortium, building on infrastructure and collaboration led by Prof. Claude Chelala. These experiences have strengthened national and international ties and enabled us to develop capabilities for clinical AI applications and precision oncology.
We also collaborate with industry partners like Panakeia Technologies, exploring how AI-powered diagnostic tools can enhance pathology workflows.
Our lab is located at the Centre for Cancer Biomarkers & Biotherapeutics, Barts Cancer Institute, part of Queen Mary University of London.
